⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Noyal-Muzillac, en breton Noal-Muzilheg et en gallo Noyal, se retrouve attesté dès le XII° siècle dans le cartulaire de Redon sous la forme Noial, aliàs Nuial, Plebs et confirme ainsi l’ancienneté de la commune, alors paroisse. En 1287, nous retrouvons Nuail prope Misuilhac dans les archives du Chapitre de Vannes.

Nous retrouvons un Noyal Musuillac en 1387 et 1453 puis un Noyal Mezuillac en 1669.

Tout comme les toponymes Noyalo, Nivillac, Neuillac, ce toponyme, antérieur à l'arrivée des bretons, rappelle un défrichement, une terre nouvellement défrichée sur la forêt.
