Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, en breton Sant-Ber-Kiberen, est placé sous la protection de Saint-Pierre, premier pape.

Démembrée de Quiberon en 1856, la paroisse de Saint-Pierre devient commune en 1856 sous le nom de Saint-Pierre !

C'est en 1962, et pour favoriser le développement touristique, qu'est rajouté ce Quiberon au nom de la commune.

C'est en 1762 que nous trouvons trace de Saint-Pierre et que nous retrouverons toujours sous cette forme ; Saint-Pierre était petit hameau de pêcheurs fort peu riches ; cela expliquant la faible présence de ce toponyme dans les annales.
