⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Moustoer-Remengol, que les francisants connaissent sous le nom de Moustoir-Remungol, est attesté en 1264 avec un Remugol aliàs Remungol, puis en 1273 avec un Remungol parrochia.

Si Moustoir est aisément compréhensible et correspond à un monastère de petite taille qui pour cette commune fut édifié au VI° siècle et détruit par les Normands quatre siècles plus tard. Remungol reste totalement abscon et vouloir y donner le sens de Remed holl - remède à tout est plein d'humour.

C'est dès l'année 1264 que nous trouvons trace écrite du toponyme Remungol et nous le voyons apparaître avec un Remungol, un Reguincol et un Remugol qui, pour l'année 1273 s'est légèrement modifié en un Remulgot.

Au cours des siècles, ce toponyme reste d'une très grande stabilité.
