Connaître le toponyme breton Konk-Leon est bien plus intéressant que le toponyme francisé.

Konk, tout comme Konk-Kernev - Concarneau, signifie anse, baie. Le village est construit près d'une anse qui ne pouvait qu'être des plus sécurisantes et des plus connues des marins de l'époque.

Konk-Leon - Le Conquet - est donc l'anse, la baie du Léon.
