⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Le Benevent e Charbillac haut-alpin se retrouve à l'identique en français sous la forme de Bénévent et Charbillac.

C'est en 1166 que Bénévent est cité pour la première fois ; il y apparaît dans les archives de l'abbaye de Durbon sous sa forme latine, Beneventum signifiant Bon Évènement. La raison de cette dénomination est inconnue.

Charbillac, idem en français, semble être une paroisse de création plus récente que Bénévent car elle n'est citée pour la première fois qu'en 1307 sous la forme latine de Charbilhacum - Charvilhacum en 1322 dans les archives du monastère de Durbon.
