■ Zuani: Le Monument aux Morts

Zuani a récemment érigé son Monument aux morts.

Accolé à l'Église, le monuemnt est une sobre stèle réalisée en marbre rouge et accostée de bordures calcaires. Elle est posée sur un muretin couvert d'ardoises ; il est prolongé de deux autres murets de hauteur identique et placés à angles droits de la stèle.

Deux branches de laurier ornent le bas de la stèle et supportent les noms des 18 morts de 14-18 ; ils sont gravés dans le marbre en lettres majuscules blanches.

L'épitaphe surmonte la douloureuse colonne des zuanais morts à la guerre ; elle est accostée de deux drapeaux français semblant flotter au vent.

Les Monuments aux Morts rappellent les soldats morts pour le pays lors des derniers conflits. C'est la guerre franco-prussienne de 1870-1871 qui verront apparaître les premiers Monuments aux Morts du pays.

Toutes les communes de France ou presque voient leur monument édifié après la guerre de 1914-1918. L'épitaphe la plus courante est Morts pour la France sauf l'Alsace-Lorraine qui grave un Morts à la Guerre bien compréhensif.

Les Monuments aux Morts sont souvent oubliés lors de nos visites ; pourtant ils sont tranche d'Histoire importante et douloureux rappel des folies humaines.
