■ Zoza: Le Monument aux Morts

Zoza réalisea un marbre blanc dans les années 1920-1930 et le plaça dans une des chapelles à l'intérieur de l'Église paroissiale.

En 2012, le marbre mémoriel a été installé à l'extérieur et fixé sur une muretin trapézoïdal d'un blanc immaculé.

Le marbre porte le nom des 10 morts de la commune lors du premier conflit mondial ; deux flambeaux allumés soutiennent la colonne des soldats. Sous ces flambeaux une épitaphe latine: Nomina eorum vivent in saecula - Leurs noms vivront pour toujours devise.

Jean-Quilicus Cervoni, étudiant, fils de Paul-André, est né à Poggio-de-Tallano ; Roméo Piétri semble né à Propiano. Nous n'avons retrouvé trace d'Armand Guiliani, Jacques Pier-Battesti, Joseph ou Marc Pietri !

Les Monuments aux Morts rappellent les soldats morts pour le pays lors des derniers conflits. C'est la guerre franco-prussienne de 1870-1871 qui verront apparaître les premiers Monuments aux Morts du pays.

Toutes les communes de France ou presque voient leur monument édifié après la guerre de 1914-1918. L'épitaphe la plus courante est Morts pour la France sauf l'Alsace-Lorraine qui grave un Morts à la Guerre bien compréhensif.

Les Monuments aux Morts sont souvent oubliés lors de nos visites ; pourtant ils sont tranche d'Histoire importante et douloureux rappel des folies humaines.
