Savines, en gavot Savina dau Lau, est un toponyme récent et lié à l'auberge qui marquait ce lieu où les habitant ; il dépendait de Montmirail. Le Cognet devint La Charriéra - la route, pour se voir ultérieurement nommé Savina - Savines. Les archives du monastère de Boscodon indiquent ce lieu sous le nom latin de Locus de Lojis juxta Barnafred puis sous celui de Cugnum en 1428.
