⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

C'est lors de sa construction dans les dernières années du XVI° siècle que le plateau va devenir Mont-Dauphin en l'honneur du fils du Roi. La commune se verra appelée Mont-Lion en 1793 pour, cette période sanglante terminée redevenir le Mont-Dauphin que nous connaissons actuellement.

Avant la construction de la forteresse, ce plateau s'appelait Malaure signifiant simplement le mauvais vent.
