Chevron héraldique

Ses positions

Dans sa position naturelle, le chevron est dressé pointe vers le chef. Ceci étant position naturelle, il n'est alors pas nécéssaire de le spécifier. Les chevrons peuvent aussi se positionner autrement que dans cette position naturelle ; il faut alors en spécifier la position. Signalons que ces positions sont peu usitées si ce n'est extrêmement rares.

• Le Chevron tourné ou couché
  Son grand axe est alors horizontal. Le chevron couché, ou tourné, voit sa pointe dirigée vers le flanc dextre.
• Le Chevron contourné
  Son grand axe est encore horizontal. Le chevron contourné , voit sa pointe dirigée vers le flanc senestre.
• Le Chevron versé
  Son grand axe est vertical et sa pointe dirigée vers le bas de l'écu.
• Ces positions sont rarement utilisées.

Ses modifications

• Émaux, fourrures et métaux
  Aucun émail particulier ne leur étant assigné, les Chevrons héraldiques peuvent supporter tous les émaux, fourrures ou métaux utilisés en Héraldique.
• Chevrons entrelacés
  Deux ou plusieurs chevrons peuvent s'entrelacer les uns dans les autres, les uns en les autres.
• Chevrons brisés
  Un chevron est qualifié de brisé quand il semble présenter un cassure au niveau de sa pointe, voyant ses branches en contact par la partie inférieure de cette pointe.
• Chevrons rompus
  Un chevron est qualifié de rompu quand, au milieu d'une de ses branches, il présente une échancrure laissant apparaître voir le champ. Le côté brisé doit être spécifié, rompu à dextre, rompu à sénestre
