■ Bourron-Marlotte: Le Monument aux Morts

Bourron-Marlotte érigea son Monument aux Morts sur la patte d'oie près de la Mairie. De facture récente, c'est une stèle dressée sur une pyramide écrêtée et de faible hauteur.

La stèle ne porte qu'une simple mention: À nos morts ; et la liste des noms et prénoms des jeunes hommes de la commune mort aux conflits du pays. Aucun grade, régiment ou date n'est gravée dans la pierre.

Les Monuments aux Morts rappellent les soldats morts pour le pays lors des derniers conflits. C'est la guerre franco-prussienne de 1870-1871 qui verront apparaître les premiers Monuments aux Morts du pays.

Toutes les communes de France ou presque voient leur monument édifié après la guerre de 1914-1918. L'épitaphe la plus courante est Morts pour la France sauf l'Alsace-Lorraine qui grave un Morts à la Guerre bien compréhensif.

Les Monuments aux Morts sont souvent oubliés lors de nos visites ; pourtant ils sont tranche d'Histoire importante et douloureux rappel des folies humaines.

Par cette page, nous tentons de redonner existence à ces hommes et lutter contre ces vents de l'oubli qui les efface.
