Auzet, en provençal Auset, est attesté dans le cartulaire de l'abbaye Saint Victor de Marseille avec un Alisino qui peut être rapproché du mot celte Alisia, l'alisier, le sorbier.

Nous retrouvons ce toponyme en l'an 1058 avec un Ausitum.
