La ville Amiens, en picard Anmien, est attestée sur les tables de Peutinger ainsi que sur l'Iinéraire d'Antonin. Elle apparaît aussi dans les commentaires de Cicéron ainsi que sur la colonne de Tongres (Belgique) sous la forme Samarobriva - pont sur la Somme. Ce toponyme est d'origine celtique avec un Briv que l'on retrouve en gaelic d'Ecosse avec un Brig - pont, que vous pourrez rapprocher de bridge. Le Breton contemporain, ainsi que le Gallois utilisent le mot Pont - prononçant le NT.
