■ Ambléon: Le Monument aux Morts

Ambléon perdit trois de ses jeunes hommes natifs de la commune: Alphonse Bainard, natif de Moulins, était pupille de l'Assistance publique du Rhône et domicilé à Ambléon. Engagé volontaire pour la durée de la guerre 1914-1918, il sera cité 3 fois et décoré comme il doit.

Entre 19139 et 1945, Ambléon perdra un homme, Eugène Léger, prisonnier en Tchécoslovaquie et mort le 8 mai 1945 sous un bombardement ; les combats ayant duré jusqu'au 11 mai dans ce pays.

L'Indochine, la Corée et l'Algérie, ne verront aucun ambléonnais mourir de faits de guerre.

Les Monuments aux Morts rappellent les soldats morts pour le pays lors des derniers conflits. C'est la guerre franco-prussienne de 1870-1871 qui verront apparaître les premiers Monuments aux Morts du pays.

Toutes les communes de France ou presque voient leur monument édifié après la guerre de 1914-1918. L'épitaphe la plus courante est Morts pour la France sauf l'Alsace-Lorraine qui grave un Morts à la Guerre bien compréhensif.

Les Monuments aux Morts sont souvent oubliés lors de nos visites ; pourtant ils sont tranche d'Histoire importante et douloureux rappel des folies humaines.

Par cette page, nous tentons de redonner existence à ces hommes et lutter contre ces vents de l'oubli qui les efface.
