⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

Ivinieg en breton, Yvignac-la-Tour en français, est attesté en 1187 sous la forme ecclesia de Iviniac dans une charte signée entre le monastère de Saint-Magloire de Léhon et celui de Paris. Nous le retrouvons sous forme Ilfiniac en 1200.

Le toponyme breton est révélateur et aisément compréhensible et désigne une ivaie ; lieu planté d'ifs.
