Écrit pendant la première guerre mondiale, le poème original fut écrit par Серге́й Алекса́ндрович Копы́ткин - Sergueï Alexandrovitch Kopytkine et s'appelait В полевом лазарете - Dans un hôpital de campagne.

Oubliés et emportés par les tourmentes révolutionnaires de 1917, poème et poète tomberont dans l'oubli. C'est dans les années 2000 que Леонид Юзефович - Léonid Yuzefovitch, scénariste russe, tombera par hasard sur ce poème alors qu'il travaille à la réalisation du film Гибель империи - La Mort de l'Empire, sorti en 2005.

Quelques années plus tard, se basant sur ce poème, le groupe russe Любэ - Lioubé composera cette chanson particulièrement émouvante et chargée d'Histoire.
