Ce natif de Valserres fut prévost du chapitre d'Embrun de 1212 à 1248. Apparaissant dans une charte de l'abbaye de Bertaud le 30 juillet 1248, il est connu pour avoir bénéficié d'une très grande consdération en son temps.

^{Religieux - Valserres : 17-03-1829 - Lettret : 02-01-1897}

Né à Valserres en un beau jour du 17 mars 1829. Appelé par le divin, il se fait tonsurer à Gap en 1850, année marquant son passage au 1° degré de la vie cléricale ; il sera ordonné prêtre en 1853.

Appelé par le missionariat, il arrive à Ottawa le 11 décembre 1857 et sera curé de Grenelle, de Chatan, de Thurso, de Buckingham, de Pembroke puis curé de curé de Saint-Anne et vicaire général.<

Après 23 ans passés au canada, Laurent Jouvent rentournera à ses Alpes natales et y œuvrera comme curé à Rabou pendant 4 ans, puis à Lettret où il s'éteindra le 2 janvier 1897. Il est enterré à Saint-Étienne-le-Laus.
