Le Monument aux Morts de Salignac est en plein centre du village, simple marbre fixé dans une niche sur le mur de la Mairie et ce choix ne se fit pas au hasard. Tout habitant venant faire quelque démarche à la mairie passe devant cette plaque de mémoire et se souvient, s'il a conscience, des sacrifiés sur l'autel des vanités et orgueils nationaux. 1914-1918 fut une guerre inutile et destructrice de l'Europe. Elle fut décrite vers 1908 par un général allemand prédisant ces massacres sans nom. Il avait tout compris, il prônait la Paix ; il ne fut pas entendu...
