Des cingles frangés d'ocre aux pacages épais,
De la rive sableuse aux coteaux lourds de vigne
Elle trace sans bruit son éclatante ligne
Et partout fait fleurir l'abondance et la paix.

En vain le Rhin puissant et tendre me fait signe,
En vain la Loire, en vain la Seine et ses palais.
C'est à tes bords vermeils, Dordogne, que se plait
Le cœur fervent et doux qui déjà se résigne.

Ah! puissé-je longtemps mesurant à ton cours
Indolent et profond le rythme de mes jours
Égaler ma fatigue à ton indifférence !

Et de tout un passé de désir et d'orgueil
Ne garder, comme toi, que douceur dans l'accueil,
Que fugaces reflets et que divins silences!
