Saint Abraham, en breton Saint Abran, est attesté 1433 dans les archives du Château de Kerfily sous sa forme bretonne actuelle. Dans source identique, nous retrouvons un Saint Abram toujours significatif.

Ce toponyme pourrait être la christianisation d'un anthroponyme plus ancien ou, cela restant possible, lié à une communauté fondatrice de religion hébraïque ayant habité en ces lieux ; il est démontré qu'il existait, en Bretagne, des populations juives fort anciennes dont certains noms de familles bretons actuels en sont toujours témoignage.
