Ormeaux nous est connu en l'an 1107 grâce à cette phrase latine Ecclesia de Ulmellis. Nous le retrouvons en l'an de grâce 1210 avec un Ulmiaux puis un Ourmiaus en 1275 alors que l'année 1298 nous présente un Les Ormellis.

Ce toponyme est aisé à comprendre et rappelle l'existence d'une ormeraie en ces lieux ; du latin Ulmus - orme.
