■ Nossage-et-Bénévent: Le Monument aux Morts

Il n'existe ni monument aux morts ni marbre en la commune de Nossage-et-Bénévent ; les budgets municipaux ne permirent pas de débloquer les fonds nécéssaires à une telle réalisation. Le mort de la commune, lors du premier conflit mondial, voit son nom gravé à Lagrand.

Nossage-et-Bénévent perdra trois jeunes lors du permier conflit ; sur une population de 48 personnes, cela fut un très lourd impôt du sang. Deux de ses fils mourront le même jour: le 7 avril 1915, l'un en Meurthe-et-Moselle, l'autre dans le Haut-Rhin.

Les Monuments aux Morts rappellent les soldats morts pour le pays lors des derniers conflits. C'est la guerre franco-prussienne de 1870-1871 qui verront apparaître les premiers Monuments aux Morts du pays.

Toutes les communes de France ou presque voient leur monument édifié après la guerre de 1914-1918. L'épitaphe la plus courante est Morts pour la France sauf l'Alsace-Lorraine qui grave un Morts à la Guerre bien compréhensif.

Les Monuments aux Morts sont souvent oubliés lors de nos visites ; pourtant ils sont tranche d'Histoire importante et douloureux rappel des folies humaines.

Par cette page, nous tentons de redonner existence à ces hommes et lutter contre ces vents de l'oubli qui les efface.
