À Le Mont-Saint-Michel ou ailleurs, cette légende, La prophétie de Toustain, eut son heure de gloire et, lors des veillées, anima certainement les soirées.

Le conteur n'hésitait pas à se lancer dans des improvisations, il brodait, déformait, virevoletait au gré de son imagination pour créer un spectacle unique.

Assis près de la cheminée, jetant des herbes au feu, il faisait naître des flammes colorées et parfumées ; créant son et lumières d'antan, il y rajoutait les parfums.

Il existe multiples légendes liées aux Mont, celle de Richard de Toustain est l'une d'entre elles.

Découvrant la chapelle Saint-Aubert, construite au raz des flot et, sur son rocher, affrontant marées et tempêtes, est d'une grande simplicité et se trouvait toujours parée de multiples offrandes. Au sommet de l'édifice, une statue de Saint-Michel, en or massif affirme la légende.
