C'est en 1243 que l'on retrouve trace écrite du toponyme Landéhen, en breton Landehen ; il nous apparaît sous la forme Landehen. Le XVI° siècle nous dévoile plusieurs formes dont Landehan ainsi que Landehen pour les années 1516 et 1453.

Ce toponyme se décompose en un Lan- rappelant la présence d'un ermitage dédié à Dehen ou Guehen ; saint ou pentiern qui est toujours Saint Patron de l'Église actuelle et protecteur de la commune.
