⌘ Étymologies et toponymes

La Beaume, en occitan haut-alpin La Bauma, est attestée pour la première fois connue dans le cartulaire de l'Abbaye de Durbon en 1136 sous sa forme occitane La Bauma.

La Beaume était connue sous le toponyme La Beaume des Arnauds et rappelait ainsi l'appartenance de ce territoire à la famille de La Flotte ; famille dont le prénom Arnaud était porté de père en fils dans cette branche.

Une baume - bauma est une grotte ou caverne située sur une hauteur.
