Jouy-en-Josas est un joli village, situé dans un vallon agréable sur la Bièvre, qui y fait mouvoir plusieurs moulins. Jouy possède un magnifique château, dont dépendent un parc de 300 arpents et une belle orangerie. Il est célèbre par son haras et une manufacture considérable de toiles peintes, qui occupe 1,200 ouvriers.
