Louis XVI, rentrant de Cherbourg pour Versailles, passa à Cambremer ; le pas lent de son carrosse était suivi par une foule d'habitants acclamant le Roi.

Un paysan de Cambremer vint au côté du carrosse et chanta une louange en l'honneur du Roi.

Louis XVI° fut enchanté ; les Rois étaient tellement plus accessibles que les Présidents...

Louis XVI° rentrant de Cherbourg pour Versailles, passa à Cambremer. Le pas lent de son carrosse était suivi par une foule d'habitants acclamant le Roi.

Un paysan de Cambremer vint au côté du carrosse et chanta une louange en l'honneur du Roi. Louis XVI° - les Rois étaient tellement plus accessibles que nos Présidents, demanda alors au paysan d'où il tenait cette chanson ; ce à quoi le paysan répondit qu'il l'avait composé lui-même pour honorer son Roi.

Enchanté, le Roi demande alors un Bis...
- Bis, mon Ami, Bis, de cette belle et agréable chanson !

Le paysan s'exécute et chante à nouveau ce chant, maintenant oublié, mais créé en l'honneur du Roi. Louis XVI° lui glisse alors plusieurs pièces que le paysan dépose dans la poche. Il ressort alors la main puis la tend vers le Roi en lui disant:
- Bis, Sire, Bis !
