Boyeux-Saint-Jérôme est attesté entre 1299 et 1369 sous une forme Boyeu, identique à celle que nous connaissons actuellement mais sans ce X.

En 1876, Boyeux était simple hameau de la commune mais deviendra le chef-lieu communal.
