Sans doute née du hasard et découverte de même, la Perdigone connut son heure de gloire et fit bonheur et honneur des grandes tables de ce monde.

Déja décrite dans un texte de 1705 vantant ses vertus et qualités, elle fut consommée en Russie, par le Tsar et les fortunés du Pays, mais aussi sur les tables allemandes ou britanniques ; c'était, il semble, la prune préférée de la Reine Victoria.

Des passionnés relancent la culture de cette remarquable Prune de Trescléoux qui sont séchées, écrasées et s'appellent alors des Pistoles.

Si elles étaient connues sous le nom de Perdrigones en pays de langue française, en Hautes-Alpes et pays de langue d'Oc leur nom était Perdrigouno, Pardringue, Perdigolo.

Véritable produit d'exportation, et de luxe, elles honoreront les plus belles tables européennes du XVIII° et XIX° siècle ; ainsi, nous les retrouverons sur les tables royales et princières d'Allemagne, de Russie, de Belgique, et, bien que l'Entente Cordiale ne soit encore signée, sur les tables de la Reine Victoria qui les dégustait avec gourmandise.

La Pistole, honneur des grandes tables, disparaîtra malheureusement avec la Seconde Guerre Mondiale et les Trente Glorieuses ; Trente Glorieuses et uniformisation qui sont mort pour multiples de nos variétés anciennes. Des passionnés ont relancé la production de Pistoles, cela pour le bonheur de tous.

◎ La perdrigone, autrefois

Nous avons retrouvé un texte daté de 1705 qui présente la Perdrigone en ces termes:

Le Perdrigon violet est une prune plus longue que ronde, elle est d'un goût fort relevé, elle a toujours été estimée pour sa bonté. Il y en a une espèce qui ne quitte pas le noyau, et une autre qui le quitte ; la dernière est la plus estimée, quoique toutes les deux soient excellentes, tant crues que confites.
Le Perdrigon blanc est d'un goût aussi relevé que le violet. Il quitte le noyau et est excellent, cru et confit.

La Pistole était une monnaie d'or, d'abord espagnole, puis ayant cours en Europe. Le fruit séché et préparé ayant une taille proche de notre Pistole prunière et, certainement aussi, valant son pesant d'or, le nom s'appliquera à cette production de haute renommée.
