La Poire Jaminette est décrite par André Leroy dans les années 1870.

Horticulteur, pépiniériste angevin, il réalisea un dictionnaire de pomologe décrivant nombre impressionnant de variétés fruitières, dont les poires.

La Poire Jaminette est décrite comme de seconde qualité - ceci lié aux goût de l'auteur. Aussi connue sous le nom de Poire d'Austrasie ou Poire Pirolle, il semblerait que cette variété soit native de Montigny-lez-Metz et, née chez M. Pirolle, père, vers la fin du XVIII° siècle.
