Abbéville-lès-Conflans, comme les autres Abbeville, dérive d'un Abbatis villa - domaine de l'Abbé.

Aucune trace d'abbaye n'ayant été retrouvée sur le territoire de la commune, il est probable que cela définissait des terres ou possessions religieuses qui seraient à déterminer
